The Almancil post, which opened on 14 February, replaces the old GNR facilities which had operated from a small space within the town, and has been equipped to meet the growing demands of the local area which includes the major tourist destinations of Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo.
According to Eduardo Cabrita, who led the inauguration ceremony, “Loulé is a special municipality” with a “significant percentage of tourists”, highlighting that the “safe image” of the Algarve is one of the factors that differentiates it from other destinations.
A total of €1.1 million was spent on the new facilities which will now offer improved working conditions for officers and a better service for the some 10,000 inhabitants of the local population. The new post is made up of 26 personnel, working a total area of 62.30 square kilometres.
