The municipality of Lagos, with this intervention, intends to provide better working conditions for the collaborative work space, which already worked informally, at Espaço Jovem.

The installation of this new feature will also allow for the reinforcing of the multidisciplinary character of Espaço Jovem and stimulating creative industries.

In the aforementioned Espaço Jovem de Lagos, there was already a small shared work space. With a focus on its growth, the application to the Participatory Budget was promoted, contemplating an improvement proposal developed based on the profiles and needs of its users, which are essentially self-employed professionals, micro-companies from various different areas, including from tourism, biology, design, agriculture, among others, and also some tourists who, for professional reasons, needed a space where they are able to work in a space which allows access to the internet in a professional environment.

The space, where the workshops of the former Gil Eanes School once functioned, is characterised by its breadth, high ceilings, with adequate lighting for use as a work space, so, after the completion of this action, it will be possible to create more work spaces, some offering greater privacy. The project contemplates the creation of two floors, one of which (floor zero) intended for public use for occasional users and the upper floor for formal meetings, characterised by being a space that offers greater privacy.

The Lagos City Council predicts that this new collaborative work space will be completed in the coming months, allowing everyone to enjoy it in the best conditions.
