Nurses’ strike postpones hundreds of surgeries

The six-day strike being staged by the country’s nurses and which began today has resulted in hundreds of surgeries throughout the country being postponed.

In the Algarve, the outpatient surgery units in the Faro and Portimão hospitals were closed and at least 40 surgeries were cancelled as a result. Summoned by four large nursing unions and associations, strike action is being staged today and tomorrow, as well as on 16, 17, 18 and 19 October.
