In a statement, FEPODABES said that with the resumption of surgeries and hospital activity, blood consumption has been increasing and national reserves already have two types of blood missing: O+ and A+.

According to the president of the federation, Alberto Mota, national reserves are already very low due to the return of hospital activity and are appealing to healthy people, especially active donors between 24 and 45 years old to give blood.

Blood donation consists of collecting about 450ml of blood from people aged 18 and over, weighing at least 50 kilograms and being healthy and takes no more than 30 minutes.

"The pandemic should not be a cause for fear. We are prepared to receive all those who want to help us, taking all necessary care," said Alberto Mota, quoted in the statement.
