Operation “Curve Water”

The Tax Action Unit, through the Lisbon Tax Action Detachment, on 2 December, identified three men aged between 45 and 59, for the practice of crimes of fraudulent introduction into qualified consumption, tax fraud, and against the genuineness, quality or composition of food and food additives in Leiria.

During an operation aimed at dismantling an illegal distillery engaged in the production and marketing of fraudulent spirits, eight searches were carried out, including three domiciliary and five to a distillery, a warehouse and three vehicles, which culminated in the seizure of 2 thousand litres of brandy, 1,950 litres of boxed wine, two shotguns, six distillation vessels and three cooling columns, an electric machine used to fill wine boxes and 10,000 Euros in cash.

The tax benefit that would result if the drinks were marketed corresponds to an estimated value of 17,600 Euros, under the Special Tax on Alcohol Consumption.

This action was reinforced by the Leiria Territorial Command.
