“Although it was possible to refuel on several flights and find transport solutions for about 1,800 passengers who had been retained at the airports of Ponta Delgada, Lisbon, Horta, Terceira and Boston, it has not yet been possible to restore all traffic. About 300 passengers have to be rearranged, mainly between the Azores and Boston” explains a note from the airline.
Azores Airlines was “forced to cancel flights between Boston and the Azores and also reduce or cancel some domestic calls scheduled for 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17th of July.” SATA´s communications office ensures that assistance has been provided in from of “accommodation, meals and ground transportation” to passengers for whom the carrier has not yet found an adequate solution. SATA “deeply regrets what happened” and assures that “it is doing everything in its power to get passengers to their destination as soon as possible.”
I think that The Portugal News has been short to report on SATA's problems and that this report underplays how many passengers were affected. Why is SATA spared the pen by The Portugal News?

Um no. SATA has made NO arrangements for those of us stranded. Our flight from Boston to Azores (and entire vacation as a result) was cancelled with no explanation, no communication and no adequate rearrangement. Absolute nightmare.

Frank Souza - simple... Azores Airlines is a big advertiser. This is why people trust publications less and less.

SATA Air Azores cancelled flight TER-LIS on June 14 and refused to pay out compensation as per EU law .
This is a severe infraction .
Customer service at Terceira was a joke .
E mails to customer service are not answered.
The airline is on verge of bankrupcy .
TAP and other competent airlines are already taking Azores market ..

My flight from Boston to St. Michael was cancelled on July 16th. Was told by the manager that we would be reimbursed for the Boston hotel but to date I have received NO response from SATA. I also loss 2 days accommodations in St. Michael that have NOT been reimbursed for. No one is responds to my communications.
