“These situations were absolutely minimal, they were identified and sent to carry out these tests with the health authorities," stated Jamila Madeira, in the press conference regarding covid-19.

The Assistant Secretary of State and Health explained that, “in the reported cases, in which the citizens were not carriers of tests with negative results carried out in the 72 hours prior to departure, they were sent by SEF to the health team in charge of carrying them out”.

For the citizens “who did not perform a test at the airport, SEF proceeded with their identification for subsequent contact with health authorities and subsequent follow-up”.

Diário de Notícias, quoting a source from SEF, reported that passengers coming from countries considered to be at risk from covid-19 are entering Portugal through Lisbon Airport, without presenting a negative test.

This is a mandatory procedure since 6 July for nationals and foreigners residing in Portugal, coming from Brazil, United States of America and African Portuguese speaking countries.

If they have not been tested, they must be tested at the airport facilities.

According to the same source, on 18 July, only on the flight that landed in Lisbon from Maputo, 106 people without negative test entered Portugal.

Because they had Portuguese nationality or residency in the country, it was possible to identify them.
