Passengers wanting to travel to Madeira from Porto can now take free Covid-19 tests at the Porto Ocidental Health Centre Group.

“All passengers with scheduled trips to the Autonomous Region of Madeira can perform testing for Covid-19 in Porto, free of charge, from 21 July. The tests will be carried out at the Porto Ocidental Health Centre Group”, reads the note released by the Madeiran Health Secretary’s office.

According to the statement, the island executive signed a protocol for this purpose, through the Health Administration Institute (IASAÚDE) with the Northern Regional Health Administration (ARS Norte).

To be able to carry out the test, interested parties must request the sample collection schedule.

The note mentions that one of the ways to apply for a test is to send an email to adc.pocidental@arsnorte.min-saude.pt, providing the name, number of users of the National Health Service, date of birth, mobile phone number, ‘email’ contact, destination address and copy of the electronic ticket and / or travel receipt. Another possibility is to call 220 412 254.

The traveller tracking operation at Madeira and Porto Santo airports started on 1 July, following a resolution by the Regional Government, which replaced the quarantine regime by requiring passengers to submit a negative test carried out up to 72 hours before departure.
