The seizure occurred following an attempted robbery on the warehouse where the drug was located. PJ investigations had the full cooperation of those responsible for the company owning the warehouse, who promptly denounced the attempted robbery, the PJ said in a statement.

"The drug in question, which appears to be destined for other European countries, comes from Latin America and was transported to Portugal by sea in a vessel that regularly transports fruit. If it reached the illicit distribution circuits, the cocaine seized would be enough to make at least seven and a half million individual doses," the police added.

The investigation is still in the hands of the PJ.
