“In conjunction with the school groups, the needs were surveyed, and the Chamber decided to provide a total of 884 ‘tablets’ with Internet access to support students in need”, said a source from the communication office of the district council of Faro.
The municipality of Portimão has about 5,000 students attending basic primary education.
According to the municipal source, the equipment will be managed by the various School Groupings in the municipality, who will distribute it “on loan” to those in charge of education according to the data collected so that students can follow the National Distance Learning Plan .
The measure is part of a municipal programme to support families in the face of the harmful impacts of the current Covid-19 pandemic.
The presidential decree that extends the state of emergency initiated on 19 March until 2 May provides for the possibility of a “gradual, phased or alternate opening of services, companies or commercial establishments”.
