The President of Tourism of Porto and Northern Portugal (TPNP) has asked the Government for “positive discrimination” for the sector, as it is “very important” for the country.

"The Government has to realise that companies, until tourists return, have to survive" said Luís Pedro Martins.

Speaking of an “equation that requires care”, Martins underlined that this sector is “very important” for the country, namely for interior territories, and for other areas of activity , including textiles, crockery, transport and wines.

"We hope to survive this year," he said, pointing to the return to normality in the sector come Easter 2021.
