In a statement, the company added that the normal hours will be resumed on the 26th and that it would run extra services on 29 December, the date of the São Silvestre Race, starting at 18:00 and arriving at Avenida dos Aliados.

On this date, the Red Line (B) will use double vehicles between 16:00 and 21:00, and between 16:00 and 22:00 in the Orange Line (F). The Yellow Line (D) will always have double units in circulation, also between 16:00 and 21:00, offering trains every eight minutes.

On the last day of the year, Metro will be reinforced again, and "from 22:00 on 31 December, the Blue (A), Red (B), Green (C), Yellow (D) and Orange (F) lines will run double units and increase the frequencies", the press release added.

"The reinforcements last into the early morning, since the Metro will operate without interruptions, except for the Violeta Line (E), which closes at 1:00 a.m. on 1 January" and the "double compositions remain on the overwhelming majority of the lines until 6:00 a.m., when the Metro resumes normal schedules and frequencies on a public holiday", the company said.
