Portugal did not produce electricity from coal in April for the first time in 35 years

The government has already said it is prepared to close the Pego thermoelectric plant at the end of 2021 and to stop production at the Sines plant in September 2023.

The production of the Sines and Pego coal plants was nil in April, which happened for the first time since their establishment, in 1985, according to REN - Redes Energéticas Nacionais.
