Moscovici, who was talking about Portugal at a press conference to present the “European Spring package” in which Brussels issued specific recommendations to the Member States, stressed that Portugal “must consolidate the recent positive trends in reducing the deficit and debt and the country should ensure that the nominal growth rate of primary public spending was no higher than 0.7% in 2018”.

“Basically, things are going in the right direction, bit there are still some imbalances that have to be corrected through more reforms”, he added.
