According to official data published on the Macau Forum website, based on statistics from the Chinese Customs Service, trade between Lisbon and Beijing amounted to US $3.276 billion (€2.924 billion) until June, corresponding to an increase of 15.66 percent compared to the same period last year.


Imports of Chinese products increased 22.66 percent, compared to the same period of 2018. Portugal imported goods from China worth approximately US $2.158 billion (€1.926 billion), with Lisbon having a negative trade balance with the Asian country of around US $1.04 billion (€920 million).


Data from the Chinese Customs Service indicates that trade between China and Lusophone countries stood at $70.139 billion (€62.6 billion) over the first six months of the year, verifying a growth of 1.17 percent.


Imports from China account for most of this figure: US $50.433 billion (€45 billion), an increase of 4.34 percent over the same period of 2018. In turn, Chinese exports to Portuguese-speaking countries fell by 6.13 percent to US $19.706 billion (€17.58 billion).


Brazil continues to be China’s main partner in the Lusophone bloc, with trades of US $51.959 billion (€46.37 billion).
