Portugal fourth European country with most fatal workplace accidents

Portugal is the fourth European country with the most fatal occupational accidents after Romania, Bulgaria and Austria.

According to Eurostat Portugal has the fourth highest figure in the community block of fatal accidents per 100 thousand workers, at 3.86.

In the European Union, in 2017, more than two million accidents of this type resulted in absences of more than four days from work with close to 3,000 accidents resulting in the death of workers.


This shouldn't be a suprise to anyone. Safety is a word that is not often used on Portuguese building sites, as everyone can clearly see every day. Same in traffic...
