Portugal Minister regrets Austria not signing global migration pact

Portugal's home minister, Eduardo Cabrita, has spoken out against Austria deciding not to sign the United Nations' global pact on migration.

He said he respected the decision, but expressed regret that the pact, which was negotiated by the EU, was not signed by Vienna.

Portugal has supported the pact and would be presented this Monday in Morocco, where two-thirds of 193 member states of the UN are to meet for a conference to adopt the first global pact on migration.
