Portugal on alert

Mainland Portugal will be on alert from 6 August until 7 August, due to the forecast of "a significant increase in the risk of rural fire", announced today the government.

In a statement, the Ministry of Internal Administration specifies that the alert situation lasts until 11:59 pm on August 7 in the entire territory of mainland Portugal.

The declaration follows the activation of the special red state alert for the districts of Bragança, Guarda, Vila Real, Beja, Castelo Branco, Faro and Viseu.

Comments:

Eucalyptus is a huge problem in Portugal. It's not native and is highly combustible. They need to replace it with native trees. Hemp would be a great replacement crop.
