According to data released on Tuesday by the European Statistical Office, in addition to the greater balance of remittances from its emigrants (€3.604 billion), Portugal also recorded the largest surplus among the 28 member states, €3.071 billion.

The remittances received by Portugal only concern labour income, according to Eurostat.

Second in the table of incoming remittances is Romania (€2.977 billion) and third is Poland (€2.544 billion).

Romania also ranks second in the balance of remittances received and sent with a surplus of €2.714 billion, followed by Poland (€2.929 billion), while France has the largest deficit (-10.524 billion euros), followed by Germany (-5.149 billion euros) and the United Kingdom (-4.660 billion euros).
