The Government declared a State of Alert for the whole of mainland Portugal on Sunday, in place yesterday and today, in view of the weather forecasts conducive to wildfires.
Speaking in Faro at the weekend, President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa admitted that the coronavirus pandemic has made the prevention of fires more “difficult”.
