Portugal strikes

National unions are today expecting a massive turnout in a general strike which started at midnight.

Civil servant union Frente Comum predicted the public services most affected would be the usual areas such as healthcare, education and social security.

It added the stoppage would also involve other sectors that do not usually stage industrial action such as tax workers, courts and notaries.

Workers are protesting against a lack of response from the government to their demands for higher wages, automatic promotions and a 35-hour week for all workers.

Comments:

This is not going to help the Portuguese who are unemployed or those living in poverty , as usual those with jobs just trying to get more money . The Portuguese government should be worrying about efficiency and accountability in the civil service etc , as the service is disgusting
