The biennial event, organised by Docomomo, is this year to have the theme ‘Adaptive Re-use - the Modern Movement Towards the Future.’ It takes place from 6 to 9 September at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, and is to feature roundtables, workshops, and site visits in central and northern Portugal. Other architects speaking at the conference include members of the practices Lacaton & Vassal and Caruso St John Architects, as well as Joan Busquets, Juhani Pallaasma, Winfried Brenne and João Gomes da Silva
In previous years the conference has taken place in South Korea, Australia, Chile, the UK, Brazil, Greece, Israel, Mexico, Finland and Spain. Docomomo was founded in the 1980s to foster the documentation and conservation of public buildings and spaces created in the 20th century.
