Around 7,000 tests will be done per day, in addition to inspections in places of greatest vulnerability.
Minister of Health Marta Temido met on Sunday with mayors from the central region of the country to define “stronger strategies” to contain the pandemic.
As of Sunday, the pandemic has infected 32,500 people and claimed 1,410 lives in Portugal.
I live near Fonte da Telha beach and ever since people were allowed to go to the beach, it's been a circus!! There is NO social distancing at all!!! This summer only residents of the area where the beach is should be allowed on the beach! And letting in tourists and out of towners is just letting the disease keep spreading. Especially when all I've seen at the beaches and cafes are large clusters of people on top of each other. No respect for anyone or the disease! And if you ask someone to back up or keep a distance, they end up cursing at you! The "second wave" of Covid19 this fall and winter a lot worse than the first!! It's really not fair to the citizens and residents of this country to put us at risk of illness and death because of 1 summer!!! Everyone should really stay in their own countries this year until a treatment or vaccine is found!!!

Absolutly right Aida Fernandes (no relation)! I have been echoing similar position. It is way to early to open the gates! Without proper treatment and a vaccine in place yet, we all be flooded by a second wave of Covid -19 cases jeopardizing the little progress made! We are all destined to pay for the sake of nobody except those who just want to make money ! Shame on the politically correct but incompetent and irresponsible politicians and their lobbies that control the country!
