The 47-year-old passenger was aboard the Aida Blu cruise ship, around 257 kilometres off the coast of Montijo when he fell ill on Monday evening. At the time the ship was beleaguered by adverse weather conditions, including strong winds and swells of up to eight metres. A helicopter and an aircraft were dispatched and the man, who was in need of urgent medical care, was successfully evacuated.
