The maximum number of spectators allowed at the Portuguese Formula 1 Grand Prix this coming weekend is expected to be slashed by almost half, the administrator of the Algarve International Racetrack, Paulo Pinheiro said yesterday.

He said the track is “still waiting for the final version of the opinion of the DGS [Directorate-General for Health] but, in principle, the maximum limit should be 27,500 seats”.

Initially, some 46,000 tickets went on sale, but in view of the evolution of the covid-19 pandemic in recent weeks, that number is expected to be substantially reduced.
