The suspects, aged 19 and 23, were present at the first judicial interrogation, in Portimão, for suspicion of the crimes of "qualified homicide, desecration of a corpse, illegitimate access, computer fraud and theft of vehicle use" , read in a note released by the Public Ministry (MP).

According to the MP, "there are suspicions" of one of the defendants "knowing the victim", a 21-year-old computer engineer, "and of knowing that he had received a sum of some tens of thousands of Euros".

It was "for the purpose of keeping that money for themselves" that, on 20 March, "both went to the victim's house, located in the Silves area, where they secretly gave him drugs to put him to sleep and choked him until they killed him”.

According to the MP, after having removed several valuables, including his cell phone, from his home, they took him “in his own car to the defendants' house, located in the Lagos area”.

On the following day, on 21 March, the suspects will have cut and dismembered “the victim's corpse”, storing it “in several garbage bags”, which in the following days “they threw down a cliff, in Sagres and hid in the vegetation, in Tavira”.

However, "over the course of those days, the defendants will have been making withdrawals and payments using the debit card and the victim's mobile phone."

The two young women, a security guard and another nurse, were arrested last Thursday by the Judiciary Police (PJ) and have no criminal record.

The inquiry is directed by the Department of Investigation and Penal Action (DIAP) of Faro, with the assistance of the PJ of Faro.
