Oral diseases are among the most common chronic diseases worldwide, with 90% of the world’s population at risk of having some type of oral disorder, from caries lesions to periodontal diseases or oral cancer. And when it comes to kids and the young population, oral diseases are among the main health problems.

Guided by a strong sense of social responsibility, MALO CLINIC believes it is its duty to bring awareness to the good practices that, from an early age, we all should have in terms of oral health and oral hygiene.

Thus, under the motto “Prevention is the best solution”, the multidisciplinary clinical teams from MALO CLINIC are carrying out, during the month of May, a nationwide awareness campaign on Oral Hygiene and Oral Health throughout several schools, including Colégio João Paulo II in Portimão, to illustrate in a didactic, fun and very appealing way the principles of good oral hygiene to thousands of students of different ages, alerting to the consequences a poor oral care routine can have and teaching the best prevention and protection techniques.

The cute MALO CLINIC mascot, MAKALO, also participates, sharing smiles with everyone.

Prevention is always easier than treatment and the oral hygiene of children largely determines their oral health in adulthood. It is therefore essential that both children and parents are properly informed about how to take care of their teeth: when to start oral hygiene, when to visit a dentist for the first time, how important “milk teeth” are, and so on. That’s why a strong awareness component, to which MALO CLINIC annually gives special attention during the month of May, is essential.

Having a clean and beautiful smile should not be a mere aesthetic question. It should be a daily health concern at any age, since teeth are faithful mirrors of our health. MALO CLINIC covers all the specialties of dentistry and Pediatric Dentistry is no exception, always striving to make a difference in children’s lives by teaching them everything that is important to know about their teeth.

In Portugal, MALO CLINIC has 17 clinics, four of which are located in the Algarve: Portimão, Faro, Loulé and Vilamoura. www.maloclinics.com
