Speaking to journalists at the end of the second technical presentation session on the "Epidemiological situation of covid-19 in Portugal", which took place at Infarmed in Lisbon, the vice president of the PSD bench Ricardo Baptista Leite was asked whether the party will support the possible renewal of the state of emergency in Portugal, which runs until Thursday

"If this matter is presented, it will naturally not be the PSD that will not extend," replied the deputy and doctor.

Regarding a possible tightening of measures in this emergency situation, Baptista Leite referred this decision to the Government, but reiterated the spirit of collaboration.

"The only one who has all the data to make decisions of this nature, to increase or decrease restrictions, is the Government, who has technical advice and all the information to make decisions," he said.

The PSD, he continued, "is available to continue the spirit of collaboration" and "guarantee all means to the Government so that the country's response is as effective and as fast as possible".

"The PSD is willing to analyze with the Government all the necessary measures for a complete response to the outbreak, whatever they may be, not blindly, but analyzing them in a logic of cooperation", he said.

The leader of the PSD, Rui Rio, accompanied the meeting by videoconference, a possibility given to the members of the Council of State, an advisory body to the President of the Republic that he integrates.
