Two men suspected of assaulting and threatening police officers were arrested Tuesday, 21 January, in Porto, the PSP said in a statement on 22 January.

The suspects, both unemployed and residents in Porto aged 35 and 41, were detained in Rua de Contumil at 6.20pm, indicates a note from the Metropolitan Command of Porto of the PSP.

The situation started in a café, to which agents from the Antas squad of the third Police Division were called due to the "occurrence of contempt".

“On the spot, and when the agents carried out police investigations, they were threatened and attacked by the suspects, and they lacked the muscle strength strictly necessary to comply with the police measures”, reads the PSP Porto statement.
