Due to the “high number of accidents with pyrotechnics,” the PSP has increased monitoring in August across the entire country through "Operation Focus", which it said was an “important operation for prevention in the field of explosive substance control.”

According to the PSP, the operation focused on places and events where fireworks are used, notably at local festivals and shows over the summer period.

The operation involved 238 police officers and conducted 152 monitoring actions which resulted in two arrests, one of which for possession of weapons and other devices, products and substances in prohibited places, one criminal referral to the public ministry, 16 violations, seven seized weapons and 66 seized pyrotechnic items.

The PSP recommends that all legal standards in the use of pyrotechnics and fireworks should continue to be followed, such as respecting safety distances from launch sites, following operating instructions and not touching unexploded items.
