Reports of Mourinho leaving United “totally false” – agent

Reports that José Mourinho is leaving Manchester United, are "totally false" the coach's agent Jorge Mendes has said, adding that both the coach and the club are "very happy" with the relationship.

"The rumors about José Mourinho leaving Manchester United are totally false. José Mourinho is very happy at the club and the club is very happy with him," the agent told Lusa News Agency.

Manchester United is curently in eighth place in the Premier League, alongside Marco Silva's Everton with 23 points and ahead Bournemouth, in seventh, but already 19 points behind leader Manchester City (41), and second-placed Liverpool (39).

Although he has already qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League, in a group with Juventus, Valencia and Young Boys, the Portuguese coach has been highly contested and there are news reports about his departure.

"José Mourinho has a long-term contract with the club and is fully committed to helping build a solid and winning team for Manchester United," said Mendes.

Mourinho, 55, has been a national champion in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain, as well as European champion for FC Porto in 2004 and Inter Milan in 2010.

With Manchester United, which was runner-up last season, he won the Europa League in 2017, the year he clinched the FA Cup and the FA Community Shield in 2016.
