Rural fire in Odemira mobilizes 110 operational and six aerial means

A fire broke out this afternoon (22 June) in a bush area in the municipality of Odemira (district of Beja), being fought by 110 operatives, with the support of six aerial means, according to the Civil Protection

Source of the District Relief Operations Command (CDOS) of Beja indicated that the alert for the fire in a bush area, in the parish of Colos, was given at 12:44pm.

In addition to the six air means, the 110 operational on the ground are being supported by 28 vehicles.

Contacted by the Lusa agency, the head of the Beja District Emergency Operations Command, Vítor Cabrita, indicated that the fire has “two active fronts”.

The operations have the support of "five planes and a helicopter", he said, referring that the fight against flames is being hampered by "difficult accesses" and by the wind, which "blows with great intensity and constantly changes direction".
