Portugal yesterday saw the number of coronavirus-related deaths and confirmed cases rise again; yesterday the country registered six more deaths and 291 new confirmed cases in 24 hours, according to the Directorate-General for Health’s (DGS) daily bulletin.

The number of new cases in the Algarve rose by 9, from Saturday to Sunday. In total there have been 46,512 confirmed cases of infection and 1,660 deaths since the onset of the pandemic.

Comments:

Agree journalists not helping.
Why note cases increase in Algarve by 9 and continue with totals for the whole country from 1st January. It sounds like that's the total for the Algarve.
Any serious journal would have started a new paragraph.

Wait what? I thought the daily number of official cases has been falling for 3 days straight from 443 on the 8th, to 402, 342 and then 291 yesterday? The way you phrase it ("rise again") sounds like it's getting worse. Not helping!
