Worten, the electrical retailer, is warning clients not to share personal data as an answer to fake advertisement SMS text messages that are being sent in the name of the company regarding a prize.

“We would like to state that any kind of personal data should not be given as an answer to these messages. We are making every possible effort to stop this situation since the competent authorities are aware of the situation,” said a statement from the company.

The sending of the fraudulent messages is random and according to Worten, they can “confirm that there has been no improper access” to their client databases.

The fraudulent messages that are circulating concern campaigns giving away prizes, on behalf of Worten, but have nothing to do with the company at all.

The SMS text messages in question contain a ‘link’, aiming to collect user data or install ‘malware’, and are similar to another fake campaign that took place in September last year.

“These are fake campaigns using the name of Worten”.
