According to Sonae Capital, the opportunity is part of a strategy to increase the number of hotel business units it operates.
The contract will also enable Sonae Capital to open its first unit in the Portuguese capital, “Portugal’s biggest tourism destination, with a hotel in a central area with great potential.”
The company noted that up to October 2018, the Lisbon Metropolitan Area received 5.4 million guests, accounting for just over €1 billion in all or 31 percent of the country’s total revenues.
Sonae Capital’s hotel business currently has five premises - three in the northern city of Porto and two in Troia, south of Lisbon.
The opening of the new hotel in the Santa Apolonia neighbourhood is scheduled for the first half of 2021.
