In Sunday’s 6.09km-long race Cherono beat Jeptoo Kimely (Kasimpasa) into second place, three seconds behind, and Trihas Gebre (Bilbao Atletismo Santuxo) into third, 29 seconds off the lead.

This was Sporting’s second consecutive victory in the European Champion Clubs Cup (ECCC) Cross Country, after winning in 2018 in Mira, in the district of Coimbra.

In addition to Cherono, Sporting’s team also secured the title with a total of 25 points, thanks to Sara Catarina Ribeiro (fifth place, 38 seconds off the lead), Sara Moreira (sixth place, 42 seconds off) and Jessica Augusto (13th and 1 minute 12 seconds off).
