The Algarve Tourism Board (RTA), in partnership with the Institute of Employment and Professional Training (IEFP) have launched a new initiative to help promote employment for students during the summer holidays.
The programme aims to not only fill gaps in the labour market which comes under strain during the summer, but to also help young people to gain experience in the work place.
Employers will now be able to temporarily hire young people over the age of 16 and can contact schools, training centres and universities directly to find staff, while young people looking for employment are able to proactively register with companies or can register on
existing employment platforms.
For the president of the Algarve Tourism Region, João Fernandes, “this initiative is a reflection of work that has been developed jointly with IEFP Algarve, as well as with several entities operating in the sector, and reinforces the response in terms of human resources in times of greater tourist influx in the region “.
The head of the RTA added that the measure “is also important to promote opportunities for learning and enabling young people to have contact within the sector which creates opportunities for the future.”
