Requests to make tax payments in instalments can be made until 15 September. This year, and as a way to mitigate the economic effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on family care, the government launched a simplified regime for the payment of IRS in instalments, without fines, and taxpayers must apply electronically, through the Finance Portal, within 15 days after the deadline for payment of the collection note.

Over 1,000 illegal care homes identified
Portugal’s Social Security institute has identified more than a thousand illegal care homes in the last two years and closed an average of two illegal homes per month since 2020.

It has also notified 186 homes to close. According to data from the Social Security Institute it identified 1,008 illegal homes between January 2020 and the end of November 2021, a number that the president of the National Confederation of Welfare Institutions (CNIS) considers very high.
Portuguese abroad prefer postal voting
