Torres Novas council has approved a reduction of the Municipal Property Tax (IMI) for 2021, setting a rate of 0.37 percent, slightly below the 0.38 percent ruling this year.

In a communication, the Town Council of Torres Novas (district of Santarem) states that it was also decided to increase the rate applicable to buildings which are ruins and to also reduce IMI for families with dependents.

The rates of the IMI are fixed annually by the councils, which can be between 0.3 percent and 0.45 percent for urban buildings (in specific circumstances it can go up to 0.5 percent) and 0.8 percent for rustic buildings. The calculation is done according to the value of the buildings.
