Traffic restricted on Algarve A22 following accident

A road traffic accident involving two light goods vehicles and causing serious injury today (6 September) has led to traffic flow being restricted on the A22 between Boliqueime and Loulé in the Algarve, a Civil Protection source said.

"There was has been a serious injury following a collision between two light goods vehicles and the traffic is restricted in the west-east direction," said the source of the District Distress Operations Command (CDOS) of Faro to Lusa.

The same source said that the warning was received at about 11:00 am and that providing assistance on site are eight vehicles and 18 personnel, including fire-fighters, the National Institute of Medical Emergency and GNR.

Traffic is moving along only one of the A22 carriageways (Via do Infante) until normality is restored, he added, without specifying when traffic could be re-established in the two west-east lanes between Boliqueime and Loulé.

The victim who was serious wounded was transported to hospital in Faro, said the source of the CDOS.
