The Portuguese police conducted searches of CP (Portuguese railways) offices in Lisbon in 2014 regarding this deal.
There were indications of corruption connected with the sale at that time.
CP sold 2,135 tons of rolling stock to the Argentine railways in 2005.
The locomotives and carriages had been taken out of service in 2003 when some Portuguese lines were electrified and they were serviced by CP subsidiary EMEF before being shipped to South America.
