According to information released on Monday by Portugal’s Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP), due to adverse weather conditions, mainly in the northern and central regions of the country, rail traffic has been affected, with some limitations remaining this morning, although the vast majority of situations have been resolved.

The IP still has no forecast for the re-establishment of the power between Alfarelos and Figueira da Foz/Lourical.

Alfarelos, also has a speed limit of 30 kilometres/hour on the main roads.

As for the Douro Line, once the intervention on the track was concluded and safety and circulation conditions were ensured, the circulation of trains between Rede and Ermida was re-established at 4.30 a.m.

The bad weather since Wednesday has killed two people, one missing, left 144 people homeless and 352 people displaced as a precaution, with more than 11,600 occurrences on the Portuguese mainland, mostly floods and tree falls.

The bad weather caused by storm Elsa between Wednesday and Friday and the impact of the Fabien depression on Saturday, also affeced road traffic, as well as damage to the electrical network, affecting the distribution of energy to thousands of people, especially in the Central region.

The National Civil Protection Authority, in the balance made at 8 p.m. on Sunday, said that the river flows are returning to normality, keeping only the situation of the lower Mondego area, in the district of Coimbra, as the most worrying.
