According to SIC Notícias, figures indicate that, last week, between 25 and 30 thousand tourists from the United Kingdom disembarked at Faro Airport.
The news comes at a time when there is talk that Portugal might be put back on the UK’s quarantine list due to a rise in the number of Covid cases.
And these 25000 will have brought a lot of virus into Portugal...

There is already a lot of the deadly virus in Portugal, the same virus that isn't killing anyone just now. Maybe its on holiday

Britain has been irresponsible in their Covid response. At what point does Europe wake up and take a look at the cautionary tale on the other side of the Atlantic? The whole thing reads like a euro is worth more than a human life..

I have no idea why someone thinks these tourists have brought Coronavirus with them versus all the other tourists that have been coming from say Germany and the Netherlands for a longer period. Every Major outbreak in the Algarve seems to be tied to a Portuguese social or club event

Like another person commented, I doubt very much that the recent rise in cases is down to the UK air bridge opening. For one most of the tourists headed to the Algarve, which doesn’t appear to be having a surge. And for two, the increase was within the first week of it opening, which would be a very quick turnaround for those arriving to infect someone who would then present symptoms and get tested. The age demographics of new infections appear to be on the younger side so in my opinion it is down to the gatherings, and lack of cautiousness of this age group. Personally I’m really frustrated as I was due to fly out to the beautiful Algarve on the 7th, which is now looking like it won’t be happening. I feel sad for all the hard working business owners who rely on the tourism from the Uk.

Cases aren’t going through the roof here are they! Not like the early days. We can’t stop the world again. People need to survive, business is crucial to everyone. And so are holidays. Let’s not panic Boris, after all we might have to get used to this for a long time.

So, is the headline insinuating that 25000 visitors brought Covid into Portugal and within a week they had spread it around and was detected that quick ? What a load of rubbish. Portuguese gov needs to look a bit closer to home!
