The National Unit for Information and Criminal Investigation (UNIIC), a branch of the Authority for Food and Economic Safety (ASAE), dismantled an illegal casino in Porto. The illicit operation ran from a warehouse in the city centre.

The three month investigation, targeting illegal gambling, culminated with the issuing of a non-domestic warrant. As a result, nineteen individuals, between the ages of eighteen and sixty five, were taken into custody after being caught red-handed in the middle of a poker game.

Authorities also seized various other materials used for gambling, including two card-playing tables, playing cards, betting chips, slot and sports-betting machines, alongside €1.100 in cash and over nine grams of hashish.

ASAE worked with the support of the Public Safety Police (PSP) and the Regulatory and Inspective Games Service.
