Portuguese police arrested a man, charging film with starting two wildfires in the northeastern Castro Daire district, official sources revealed.

The 32 year-old man, a construction worker, allegedly started two wildfires in the past week, one of which burnt a 123 acre area.
According to a police press-release, the man had been convicted in 2005 for arson charges. He had also been jailed for drunk-driving and theft convictions.
Police added that another suspected arsonist, a 16-year old, was arrested in the Rio de Loba area, also in north-eastern Portugal. He will be charged on at least six counts of arson; the youth allegedly told police he is “attracted to fire and to the great commotion caused by fire-fighting efforts”.
Portugal’s seasonal wave of summer wildfires mainly hits the northern and central parts of the nation. Many of the fires are suspected to be the result of arson.
