Water reserves in the Algarve will only last until end of the year

Water reserves in the Algarve at present levels will only guarantee public supply until the end of the year, according to a warning raised by a working group collaborating with the Permanent Drought Committee.

According to reports the region is going through a period of drought that is not only more serious due to the drop in consumption resulting from the pandemic. According to newspaper Jornal de Notícias, the region will only have water until December.

No rain in one thing, the wildfires another, but selling the water to the Chinese for feeding their avocado monocultures, the Algarve communities not able to agree on the renovation of the ailing water distribution system and the fair distribution, agriculture using antique methods of watering causing immense evaporation..... All due to a notorious mismanagement. What do we pay taxes for??
