Wolves in Europe?

Former FC Porto boss Nuno Espirito Santo is on the cusp of masterminding another landmark at English Premier League newcomers Wolverhampton Wanderers.

A single goal victory over Fulham, who were promoted to the Premier League alongside Wolves last season, has the fans dreaming of Europe. Provided Watford don’t miraculously beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final, Wolves will enter the Europa League next season.

Nuno took charge of Wolves when the club was in the doldrums last summer, meandering along in the Championship and not going anywhere fast. One hundred and fifty six points, a Championship title, FA Cup semi-final and Wolves’ best league finish since 1980 later, Nuno is revered in Wolverhampton. Ahead of the victory over Fulham Nuno was handed an honorary doctorate by the University of Wolverhampton.
