Washing Machine: This is one of my favourite terms that we have in the surf world. If a surfer says “I was in the washing machine” it means that he got pushed down by a wave hitting him and got spun around underwater several times. This is, as you can imagine, quite dangerous and can lead to loss of orientation underwater.
