"We are going to finish vaccinations for people over 30 between the end of July and the beginning of August and then 20 year olds will be vaccinated," Henrique Gouveia e Melo told reporters on the sidelines of the eHealth Summit event. The Task Force coordinator explained that by the time they reach the age of 18, “roughly” more than 90 percent of the population will be vaccinated. "It is very likely that, with this rate of vaccination, the virus will continue to persist endemically in the population," he said, and end up "dying" because it has no way to spread in the community. Therefore, Gouveia e Melo also said, it may not be necessary to vaccinate children because, by vaccinating 70 percent, 80 percent, 90 percent of the population, children are being protected.
Vaccination for adults over 20 starts in August
People over 20 years of age will start being vaccinated against Covid-19 in August, the Task Force coordinator for the Covid-19 vaccination plan stated on 1 June.
