"In honour of the former player Pelé, who died last Thursday at the age of 82, the Portuguese Football Federation has determined a minute's silence in the competitions it organizes until next Sunday, January 8th", reads the statement on the FPF website.

Edson Arantes do Nascimento, known as Pelé, died on Thursday, aged 82, at the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, in São Paulo, following “multiple organ failure, a result of the progression of colon cancer associated with his clinical condition”.
